Editorial Standards

Our Editorial Standards

How we research, write, and stand behind what we publish.

AE Cleaning & Home exists to give 805 homeowners advice they can trust enough to act on. These are the principles we hold ourselves to.

Experience first

Our guidance is grounded in real, repeated, hands-on work — cleaning and preparing homes across Thousand Oaks, the Conejo Valley, and Ventura County. When we describe a method, it's one we've used, and we tailor it to local conditions like hard water, coastal humidity, oak pollen, and fire season rather than offering generic steps.

Accuracy and sourcing

Where specifics matter, we point you to authoritative, primary sources rather than asking you to take our word for it — your water provider's annual quality report for hardness numbers, Cal Fire and California's defensible-space rules for fire prep, and the Contractors State License Board for verifying anyone you hire. Because conditions vary house to house, we encourage you to confirm details for your own address.

Safety comes before convenience

We will never suggest something that trades your safety for a shortcut. We don't recommend mixing cleaning chemicals (bleach with acids or ammonia, for example), and we steer clear of do-it-yourself electrical, structural, gas, or roof work. When a job calls for a licensed professional, we say so.

Independence and disclosure

AE Cleaning & Home is published by Maid VIP, and we disclose that relationship openly. We mention Maid VIP's services where they're genuinely relevant, but our how-to guidance is written to stand on its own and help you whether or not you ever hire anyone. We do not currently run advertising or accept payment in exchange for coverage or recommendations; if that ever changes, we'll label sponsored or affiliate content clearly.

Corrections

We're happy to fix what we get wrong. If you spot an error, email us at hello@aecleaning805.com and we'll review and update the piece.

Not professional advice

Our articles are general information, not a substitute for a professional inspection or for legal, financial, or other expert advice about your specific situation. Use your judgment, and consult a qualified pro when the stakes call for it.
